ONE of the urban grooves pioneers, Ngoni Kambarami, proved he still has what it takes to remain at the top after he gave a fine live performance at the Zambezi Lounge here on Saturday night.

Kambarami, who now stays in Belfast, Ireland, flew in on the day for the intimate connection at what locals call “the home of Zimbabwean fans”.

The club is owned by Ernest Muzvidziwa and has now become the entertainment centre for Zimbabweans here.

“It is always nice to connect with your fans wherever they are in the world.

“This is the first time for me to perform here and I am glad we had a good time.

“I was well received and that is very humbling. I will never say no to come and play here again or anywhere else in world where I have fans,” said Kambarami.

The Angela hit-maker serenaded fans with hits from his long discography that stretches as way back as 2002.

The fans had little choice but to sing along to hits such as Zvaunondiita So, Wabata Moyo Wangu, Wakaenda, among others.

Organisers of the show included Marlven King, Truth Entertainment, Big League and Stewart Nyamayaro and must be commended for ensuring fans were kept on their toes.

They even served guests complimentary delicacies to appreciate their attendance.

On rotation were three wheel spinners — DJs Paddy Watts, DJ Fyn and DJ RK Rosemary.

Each came prepared and played different genres to cater for a cosmopolitan crowd.

A number of well-known personalities were also in attendance, including former Soccer Star of the Year Stewart “Shutto” Murisa and online sensation DJ Mel.

The gig ended early yesterday morning with the organisers advising that they were working on bringing other artists from Zimbabwe.

Stunner and Zanda Zakuza are some of the artists who have played at Zambezi Lounge.
