CHEGUTU Pirates superfan,  Tonderai ‘Boys Dzangu’ Maunde, says they are not the BAD BOYS of the domestic Premiership.

The Premiership newcomers’ fans have been caught up in a number of incidences, which have attracted the bad boy tag.

There has also been criticism about the Pirates’ general lack of professionalism.

The Pirates fans have a reputation, from their days in the lower division leagues, as a very passionate lot.

But, they also have a streak of hooliganism, within their camp, and the club was once barred from playing at Pfupajena.

The fans were accused of being rowdy at the Heart Stadium, when they visited Yadah, while their match at home against Dynamos was abandoned at the Baobab after a pitch invasion.

However, Boys Dzangu, says their image is being tarnished for no apparent reason.

“All this is a way to tarnish the image of our brand. We’re a highly disciplined football club, conducting itself in a manner befitting the top class we’re in.

“We’ve not smuggled unprofessional behaviour into the league as some sections of the media or football community would like to portray.

“Our supporters are here to play their part as the twelfth men of our club. We just support the club in a friendly manner.

“In our camp, we accept no nonsense, as far as discipline is concerned. We now have a mechanism in place to weed out any rowdy elements from among our lot.

“To say Zaire is the black sheep in the league is unacceptable.”
