Khama Billiat’s Salary at Yadah Stars FC Revealed

In an exciting development for Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League, Khama Billiat’s salary has been unveiled, catapulting him to the position of the highest-paid player in the league.

Yadah Stars Football Club has successfully signed the former Kaizer Chiefs Football Club star on a one-year contract, marking his return to local football after an illustrious career spanning over a decade in South Africa, where he showcased his skills with notable teams such as Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns, and ultimately Kaizer Chiefs.

Negotiation Drama: Khama Billiat’s Contract Talks

Billiat’s return to Zimbabwe on Tuesday set the stage for his eagerly anticipated comeback. Despite significant interest from prominent clubs like Dynamos and Manica Diamonds, it was Yadah Stars Football Club that emerged triumphant in the bidding war, capturing Billiat’s signature in a surprising twist.

Initially, Khama Billiat’s team and Dynamos had agreed to a sign-on fee of US$20,000. However, a minor disagreement arose regarding the payment schedule, as the club proposed a split payment of US$10,000 upfront and the remaining sum in June. Billiat, on the other hand, expressed his preference for receiving the full amount immediately.

Seizing the opportunity, Manica Diamonds swiftly entered the picture and reached an agreement with the talented footballer just last Thursday. Their enticing offer included a sign-on fee of US$20,000, a monthly salary of US$3,500, and additional winning bonuses amounting to US$500. However, as Billiat stood on the verge of signing the contract, his team advised him to exercise patience.

It was at this critical juncture that Scott Sakupwanya, a shareholder at Yadah FC, made a move and presented Khama with an even more appealing proposition than what Manica Diamonds had put forward.

Under the revised agreement, Khama Billiat is poised to earn an estimated US$5,000 (approximately R94,500) per month. To put this into perspective, it’s worth noting that Billiat reportedly earned R800,000 per month during his tenure with Kaizer Chiefs. Yadah Stars Football Club, who narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the 2023 season, also demonstrated their commitment by providing Billiat with a sign-on fee of US$20,000.

Dynamos Loan Speculation Dismissed

Addressing speculations about a potential loan arrangement between Billiat and Dynamos, Yadah chairperson Everson Chatambudza categorically ruled out such a possibility, putting an end to the rumours.

“We have no plans to loan him out; we actually believe that his experience will come in handy for Yadah. In fact, we would not be paying a record-breaking fee for him just to empower our rivals,” Chatambudza said.
