A PASS IN MATHS AT O’ LEVEL NO LONGER A REQUIREMENT FOR TRAINEE NURSES

ONE doesn’t need a pass in Mathematics at O’ Level to enroll for a place to begin general nurse training in this country anymore.

In the past, a pass in Mathematics at O’ Level was a major requirement for entrance into nurse training programmes.

The other key subjects were English and Science.

However, that is no longer a requirement as per a recent Ministry of Health and Child Care advert for the May intake of trainee nurses.

While a minimum of five O’ Level passes remains a requirement, Mathematics is no longer part of the subjects, which one has to pass.

The Ministry of Health and Child Care said:

‘’Applications for the three-year Diploma Nurse Training to be conducted by the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) are invited from suitably qualified from the following qualifications.

‘’A minimum of 5 O’ Level subjects with passes in English language and a Science subject and other three (that exclude practical subjects which are Fashion and Fabrics, Mental Work, Graphic Art, Art and Wood Work) at Grade C or better obtained from not more than two sittings with full certificates as Examination Result Slips are not accepted,” reads part of the advert.
