Glamour Boys got only 16% of the money they generated on Sunday

THE Sports Commission, ZIFA and the PSL got more money, together, than what Dynamos generated from their home match against Bulawayo Chiefs at Rufaro on Sunday.

This once again highlights the plight which local football clubs find themselves in where, even though they provide the entertainment, through their players, the bulk of the money they generate go elsewhere.

The clubs are then left to pay their players, the entertainers which the fans pay to watch, from the little they generate from the gates while the other parties don’t have to deal with such costs.

The Glamour Boys generated US$11 910 from gate receipts after only 3720 fans, one of the lowest number of fans to watch a DeMbare home game, paid their way into Rufaro.

And, after all the expenses had been taken care of, Dynamos were left with just US$2 006,72.

This means that DeMbare were left with just 16 percent of the financial pie which their appeal had generated at Rufaro.

The other 84 percent went to various other parties.

In simple terms, Dynamos hired Rufaro for US$1 786,50 to get US$11 910 and then, after all the other expenses had been paid, remain with just US$2 006,72.

The US$1 786,50 was what Dynamos paid for the hire of Rufaro.

The US$2006,72, which Dynamos were left with, was fewer than the SRC, ZIFA and the PSL took, as a group, in levies from the same match.

Both the SRC and ZIFA took US$714,60 each for a total of US$1 429,20.

The PSL took US$869,43.

Together, the three entities took home US$2 298,63, which is more than the US$2 006,72, which Dynamos were left with.

DeMbare also paid US$1 843 to the police who were on duty that day, which is just US$163,72 less than the US$2 00,72, which the Glamour Boys were left with.

The chief cashier and his cashiers took home $1 160, which is more than half what Dynamos were left with on Sunday.

The cost of tickets, US$446,40, chewed more than a fifth of what DeMbare were left with.
