Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s wife, Miniyothabo, stole the show yesterday with her stunning dress at the Independence celebrations in Murambinda.

The country celebrated 44 years of independence yesterday, and the national celebrations took place in Murambinda, Manicaland Province. President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his family, the Vice Presidents, Cabinet Ministers, Government officials, some opposition figures, members of the diplomatic corps and other dignitaries thronged Murambinda B Primary School in Buhera District for the celebrations.
The hive from the event created a buzz and ignited the usually dormant town, which will remain etched in the residents for a while to come.
People in Murambinda were treated to pomp and fanfare as musicians and members of the security forces thrilled them. The Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Zimbabwe Defence Forces performed drills that gripped the crowd at Murambinda B Primary School. After the formal ceremony, speeches and drills by the security forces, Dynamos and Highlanders iced the day with a cup match, which the former lifted.
In the evening, the Independence Gala brought a close to an eventful day. Musicians like Sandra Ndebele, Chief Hwenje, Diana Samkange, Ras Caleb and Simon Mutambi serenaded the crowd deep into the night.

State officials brought colour to the event, donning the “National Dress.” Vice President Chiwenga’s wife, Miniyothabo, was arguably the best dressed.
Minnie is a fashion designer who owns clothing shops in Harare. She thus had to show she was worth her salt at the event.

She rocked a unique dress with glistening beads designed into the Zimbabwe flag up to the waist. The lower half had the national dress fabric, maintaining the decency of the Vice President’s wife.
