President Mnangagwa Shakes Up Cabinet in Surprise Mini-Reshuffle

In an unexpected turn of events, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has carried out a mini-cabinet reshuffle, reassigning ministers and deputy ministers while appointing new faces to key positions.

The announcement came through a statement made by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Martin Rushwaya, on Wednesday. Dr Rushwaya revealed that President Mnangagwa had made several changes to the cabinet lineup and introduced new deputy ministers.

Reassignments of Ministers and Introduction of New Deputy Ministers

One of the notable changes is the reassignment of Winston Chitando, who was moved from his position as Local Government Minister to once again head the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development. Chitando takes over from Soda Zhemu, who, in turn, has been appointed as the Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities, replacing Daniel Garwe. Garwe has replaced Chitando as the Minister of Local Government and Public Works.

In addition to the ministerial changes, President Mnangagwa also introduced new deputy ministers. Musa Ncube has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities, while Headman Moyo assumes the role of Deputy Minister of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs.

RE-ASSIGNMENT OF MINISTERS

In terms of Subsection 1 of Section 104 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, His Excellency the President, Cde. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has reassigned the under-listed Ministers as follows:

Hon. Daniel Garwe, M.P.: Minister of Local Government and Public Works

Hon. Winston Chitando, M.P.: Minister of Mines and Mining Development

Hon. Zhemu Soda, M.P.: Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities

APPOINTMENT OF DEPUTY MINISTERS

His Excellency the President has, in terms of Subsection 2 of Section 104 made the following appointments and reassignment of Deputy Ministers:

Hon. Musa Ncube, Sen: Deputy Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities

Hon. Headman Moyo, Sen: Deputy Minister of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs

RE-ASSIGNMENT OF DEPUTY MINISTER

Hon. Yeukai Simbanegavi, M.P.: Deputy Minister of Energy and Power Development.

The appointments and re-assignments are with immediate effect.

Continued Cabinet Reshuffling

It is worth noting that President Mnangagwa recently made another change to the cabinet, bringing Mangaliso Nqobizitha Ndlovu back to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Sithembiso Nyoni, who previously held that position, was subsequently moved to the Environment Ministry in a swap.
