A shameless 19-year-old man is in court for allegedly dating and impregnating his 14-year-old sister in Uzumba.
The man appeared before a Mutawatawa magistrate to answer to charges of having s_xual intercourse within a prohibited degree of relationship. Incest is illegal in Zimbabwe as defined in Section 75(2) (c) of the Criminal (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
How The Two Siblings Fell In Love
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) heard that in January 2023, the accused, who cannot be named, was at home with his 14-year-old sister. As the two chatted and bonded, the 19-year-old man decided to take things a notch up bizarrely.
He then opened his heart to his sister and asked her to be his girlfriend. Strangely, the 14-year-old admitted to feeling the same way for her brother. The two decided to hit it off and start dating. They decided to keep their relationship under wraps, knowing how much trouble it would attract if ever known.
The 19-Year-Old Impregnates His 14-Year-Old Sister
During their relationship, the 19-year-old man convinced his sister for some action.
She agreed, and the two did the act on different occasions, both at home and in the garden. However, the girl later fell pregnant with her brother’s child.
Her grandmother noticed that the 14-year-old child she was looking after had fallen pregnant.
She cornered the minor to reveal the man responsible for the pregnancy. The granny’s horror was palpable when the 14-year-old child revealed her brother was responsible.
The grandmother reported the case to the police, leading to the 19-year-old man’s arrest for incest. He appeared in a Mutawatawa Court, where the Magistrate sentenced him to 14 months in jail. Two months were struck off, and he will serve an effective 12 months.

Worrying Cases Of Incest In Zimbabwe
A few years back, Panashe, 21, and Pikitai Dhave, 29, got a 54-month jail term for incest. Panashe was the daughter of Pikitai’s brother. The two admitted to the relationship in court, revealing that they wanted to fulfil their desires.
In 2022, a 28-year-old man was slapped with a fine after admitting to bedding his cousin.
