Court Appearance and Bail Decision

Tichafa Mugwaga, aged 40, stood before Harare Regional Magistrate Mr Taurai Manuwere, where he was charged with attempted murder. He was subsequently granted bail of US$50 and remanded out of custody until June 4.

Relationship Background between the accused and complainant

According to the prosecution, Mugwaga had been in a relationship with Rosemary Moyo, aged 39, since 2017, and the two had been living together.

While escorting Ms Moyo to the bus stop, Mugwaga allegedly attacked her with an okapi knife, inflicting a wound on her collarbone without provocation. Ms Moyo sustained injuries and was promptly taken to a hospital for medical examination. Fortunately, Moyo was treated and survived the attack, and this led to her confession and the arrest of her ex-lover.

Legal Action Taken

Following the incident, Mugwaga was apprehended and brought before the court to face the consequences of his actions.

The police have warned the public to refrain from the use of violence when solving their disputes. Recently, a number of deaths have been caused after people have misunderstandings in relationships.
