WHO IS GOING TO BLINK FIRST?

Sports Reporter

IT’S an epic race that has captured the attention of the nation with its twists and turns, a touch of controversy here and there and everything in between.

MWOS versus Scottland!

It has split the fans and created two distinct groups – one backing Lloyd Mutasa’s men and the other singing in the corner of Genesis Mangombe’s team.

Last Friday, Scottland president, Scott Sakupwanya, chose to go and watch MWOS take on Golden Eagles, while wearing the replica jersey of his title rivals.

It’s sad one of them will have to miss out on the BIG JACKPOT.

But, who will it be?

There is a cool US$500 000, which has been promised to the Scottland camp, if you include the coaches, as a bonus should they win the race.

While nothing official has come from MWOS, reports indicate that Mutasa’s men have been promised residential stands and a Christmas vacation in South Africa, should they win the race.

The presence of the owners of MWOS, including former Zimbabwe international cricketer PJ Moors, at the club’s game against Golden Eagles, showed the stakes have been raised.

But, who will blink first?

It could happen today when MWOS travel to the capital for a date against unpredictable Black Mambas.

And, this afternoon, Scottland are back at Rufaro where they will entertain DZ Royals.

They have been promised US$200 for every goal they score with goal difference, which is in favour of MWOS right now, likely to be a key determining factor.

The last time Scottland were at Rufaro, they thrashed Norton Community 7-0.

“For the game on Wednesday, there is a winning bonus of US$1 500 and on top of that there will be US$200 for every goal scored,” said Sakupwanya.

“That means if we win 5-0 on Wednesday, each player will earn US$2500 and, so, the more goals scored, the more money in the players’ pockets.

“The incentives are on a match-by-match basis, meaning it might be a different package for the game that comes after this one on Wednesday.

“We need goals if we are to gain promotion into the Premier League and that’s why in the game against Norton Community I went to the players and pledged US$1000 for a big win, which we got.

“Now we have a package for the next game against DZ Royals and we will see what to do for the next challenge.”
