PREPARATIONS for the gospel concert, ‘God’s Lifter of Man,’ at an advanced stage, organisers have confirmed.

The event is being hosted by gospel power couple Minister Ellard and Sharon Cherayi and will be held on October 26, at East End Hall, Showgrounds, in Harare.

The gospel show will see top musicians like Minister Micheal Mahendere, Nyasha Mutonhori, Mathias Mhere, and Takesure Zamar sharing the stage with the couple.

Special guest will be United Kingdom-based Zimbabwean star Eleana Makombe.

In an interview, Sharon said rehearsals have begun for the concert and she is happy that all the acts were now in one place.

“The preparations are at an advanced stage for the GLOFM. The tickets have started selling and I am happy that all the confirmed acts are here in Harare already doing rehearsals,” she said.

“Eleana Makombe arrived (Tuesday) and we are looking forward to her performance.”

Sharon said the event will be a permanent feature on the gospel calendar.

“We have been planning for it since March this year, however, due to a busy schedule we have settled for October.

“It will be an annual event starting this year,” she said.

Sharon did not reveal of she will be releasing new music on the day but hinted that there would be some surprises at the show.

The ‘Fara Iwe Moyo Wangu’ hitmaker added:

“Music is business and we are calling on all stakeholders and corporates who want to work with us at the show to come.

“So far, sponsorship is half-half, if I can say, but with the grace of God, we will make it through. We have some companies who are already on board.

“What you need to understand is that times have changed and I am happy with route gospel music is taking.

“It is different from the past years.

“Singing gospel music back then was regarded as something backward or music for the poor.”
