ZIMBABWE turned on an all-round performance to record a 149-run win over Rwanda yesterday to maintain a 100 percent winning run at the ongoing ICC T20 2026 Africa Sub-B World Cup qualifiers.

Dion Myers became Zimbabwe top T20 scorer with 95 runs off 46 balls to break a six-year-old record of 94 runs, which was being held by Solomon Mire, which he scored against Pakistan in 2018.

With Myers shining with bat, skipper Sikandar Raza led with ball claiming a fiver for the Chevrons to restrict Rwanda from recording a three figure mark.  After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Zimbabwe had an unexpected start to their innings losing their first wicket from the first ball of the innings.  Brian Bennet was trapped lbw by Zappy Binenyimana’s first ball.  Despite the early setback, Zimbabwe found their rhythm with a second-wicket partnership of Dion Myers and Tadiwanashe Marumani. The 129-run stand set the tone for the Zimbabwe innings before the dismissal of Marumani for 44 runs off 18 balls in the ninth over. At the halfway stage Zimbabwe had scored 142 runs for the loss of two wickets.

Then, the Chevrons lost six wickets in 10 overs for 98 runs. Zimbabwe posted a total of 240 runs for the loss of eight wickets.

Out to defend 240 runs, Rwanda had an average start going beyond the power-play before losing a wicket. They lost their first wicket in the seventh over with 32 runs on the board thanks to the tight bowling of the Zimbabwe bowlers.

Raza led the Zimbabwe bowling innings with figures of 4-1-18-5 at an economy of 4.5.
