CONGOLESE forward Eli Ilunga might have had a subdued season with Dynamos but he has not given up on his dream of winning a third Chibuku Super Cup title.

Having previously won the silverware with FC Platinum in 2021, before another success story with DeMbare last season, Ilunga sounded positive ahead of this Sunday’s semi-final clash against Manica Diamonds at Rufaro.

The Congolese forward has been on the sidelines due to persistent knee injury but he is now slowly getting back into the groove.

“Winning the Chibuku Super Cup with Dynamos was more special as they were coming from a prolonged barren spell.

“They had never won the Cup before when compared to FC Platinum who were used to winning it. So, being the first group to win that Cup, made me happy,” he said.

But it is only fair to say that Ilunga has experienced one of his worst seasons, with a single assist against Bulawayo Chiefs, in the league.

“With Rhinos, it was my first time to play in the league in Zimbabwe and to score goals and to be voted among the 11 Soccer Stars finalists.

“I have many good memories here in Zimbabwe and I have enjoyed football in Zimbabwe and I am still enjoying it.”

But, being a foreigner comes at a price as expectations from the employers are higher.

“As a foreigner, there are more things expected from you. You need to train hard so that you can help the team. It’s not good to feel comfortable, you have to work.

“Ilunga has been deployed in different positions but he said he feels more comfortable playing as a second striker.
