BOTCHWAY MAKES IMPACT ON RETURN

GHANAIAN midfielder Frederick Ansah Botchway made an impact on his return to the team after being on the sidelines for months due to an injury.

He was thrown into the fray when DeMbare powered past FC Platinum 2-0 on Sunday at Rufaro.

The win jeopardised FC Platinum’s chances of winning the league title this season.

Botchway joined the club at the start of the season from Hearts of Oak but suffered a muscle injury in July.

Speaking to Zimpapers Sports, Botchway said it’s a miracle that he healed without surgery.

“It’s a miracle, I should have gone through surgery but due to advice from the doctors and guidelines I rested, and finally I healed,” he said.

Botchway said injuries are part of the game.

While on the sidelines he took the opportunity to study and learn more about local football while watching from the terraces.

“It’s not easy to be out because of injury but I told myself to understand that this is the nature of our job.

“It is one thing you realise you can’t run away from but the good thing is that I then took the time to watch and learn what it is like to be on the pitch at the same time wishing my teammates all the best.”

Botchway, who has won several titles in his career, is looking forward to earning more silverware.

At Hearts of Oak, he won the league, MTN FA Cup, the President Cup and the Super Cup.

He is now looking to win his first piece of silverware with DeMbare.

“I want to help my side win silverware. For me, it is high time to also have a taste of what it feels like to win the Chibuku Super Cup.

“As long as we maintain our discipline and tactical approach, we will walk out victorious.

“But, before that, we have league games which we are concentrating on as we seek to have a better finish come the end of the season.”
