THE Zimbabwe Soccer Supporters Club, commonly known as The Friends of the Warriors, have started to mobilise resources ahead of the team’s AFCON qualifiers against Kenya and Cameroon.
The Warriors are set to shift base for the upcoming crucial AFCON qualifier against Kenya at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, South Africa.
The match against the Harambee Stars is scheduled for November 15.
The supporters have already hired five buses to take the fans to the match venue. The Friends of the Warriors have taken the steps after ZIFA confirmed the venue of the next match.
Speaking at the official unveiling of a partnership where the association have obtained more than five buses for the trip, Friends of Warriors chief of protocol Tendai “T-Bunz” Zhakata said they were happy that the game was now closer to home.
“We are going to have transport for our supporters who wish to travel to Polokwane, South Africa, for our game against Kenya.
“Our senior team has been using the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg but we are happy that we will now be in Polokwane which is closer to home.
“We urge all the supporters, members of the Friends of the Warriors and non-members, to come and join us for the trip.
“There is a need to support the team and we are not looking back thinking that we have already qualified but we need the fans’ support.
“We are also urging those based in South Africa to come out in their numbers and rally behind the team. We are organising some regalia, that is flags, drums and everything that can help us support the team.”
Friends of Warriors secretary-general Rinos Rambi said they were happy that they have unity as supporters and everyone was rallying behind the national team for the qualifiers.
“We are looking forward to the game against Kenya and Cameroon so that we qualify without any hustles.
“We are hopeful we will have large numbers for the games,” said Rambi.
