MACDEE UNVEILS APOSTOLIC GROUP

VETERAN music producer, McDonald “MacDee” Chidavaenzi, has unveiled a four-man Apostolic choral group, Vakundi, as he continues to diversify.

The group has since dropped a new song, ‘Zvenyika,’ which is already being pushed across different platforms. MacDee said the group is filling a new gap in the industry.

“This is a group from Johanne Masowe Echishanu and they are based in Harare.

“They will predominantly be using maoko nehosho and most of the songs will be church compositions.

“They have a new song, ‘Zvenyika,’ and two more are coming in the next three months.

“The group is still trying to find ways to come up with the best videos,” he said.

The producer said he wants to come up with different ways of releasing choral songs.

“We want to run away from the traditional way of just going pagomo and doing a video.

“We are launching diverse ways of making these videos. We are hoping people can be blessed by the music before the people see the visuals.

“I grew up in a Johanne Masowe family and my mom was a member.

“I grew up with a strong affection for the sect and these people normally don’t record regularly.

“So, we want to break the culture to try and promote their way of worship.

“The song is already being pushed across different channels.”

MacDee said they want to demystify the negative perception related to apostolic members.

“There is a perception that only Pentecostal singers are genuine Christians but we are saying apostolic is powerful.

“Look, there was a time we were blessed by Vabvuwi, Vabati VaJehovha, Vabati Vevhangeri, and it is now time to give a chance to Johanne Masowe Echishanu, honouring God and preaching the gospel through music.

“We are also promoting multi-cultural diversity when it comes to Christianity,” he said.
