RHUMBA group Bana Des As’, has dropped their first album in 17 years.

It has been dubbed ‘Yamwisa Mwana.’

The Zimbabwe-based group last dropped an album in 2007 called Un Kilometre A Pied (One Kilometre By Foot).

Bana Des As’ debut album was Degree Matinda, which was released in 2003.

They are now back with Yamwisa Mwana.

Dilubenzi Mabanda John Mushetu, one of the band’s leaders, said:

“Releasing music for us is not the problem. The problem is the platform that we have to use for people to acknowledge and listen to our music. We are not that exposed.

“We have gotten so much support from already established rhumba artists.

“Our album has 10 songs and most of them speak about love in general, be it between brothers or sisters or love for women.

“The name of the album is Yamwisa Mwana, which means feed the baby but the context we are taking it is call for people take care of their children.

“Women play a big role in society, imagine caring for someone for nine months and taking care of the child into adulthood.”

He added:

“We are looking for financial assistance or sponsorship to help us.

“We have asked a few individuals to sponsor us, however, they are still contemplating and it’s difficult to make it in the music industry without sponsors.”
