THE Zimbabwe Strongman Federation (ZSF) has officially registered with the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).
Founder of the federation, Knowledge Musengi, told H-Metro yesterday that they were officially registered.
“We are excited with this development. As you know, we started off around this year and we have been trying to formalise everything and this is the positive news we have.
“We are now officially registered as an association.
“The federation is dedicated to promoting a strong community and we are organising local competitions, workshops and training sessions.
“These sessions are meant to encourage participation from all fitness levels and backgrounds,” said Musengi. He said they will be descending on schools and communities.
“By collaborating with schools, gyms and community centres, we aim to make Strongman events accessible and appealing to a wider audience. Participating in Strongman events offers numerous benefits, including improved physical fitness, increased mental resilience and a sense of community. These events promote overall health and well-being as they require a combination of strength, endurance and strategic thinking.
“Additionally, they provide a platform for individuals to challenge themselves and achieve personal goals, fostering a sense of accomplishment and confidence.”
The Strongman held its first event in May at the University of Zimbabwe. It attracted participants from Zambia.
“Corporal Zikhali showcased his incredible strength by successfully pulling a 56-tonne train, a feat that has earned him national recognition.
“NetOne were our major sponsor and they helped a lot in the payment of the winners.”
