GOSPEL singer, Chisafa, has called for more airplay of gospel songs on local radio stations.
He has released a single, dubbed ‘Ruoko Runesimba,’ after a two-year musical break.
Chisafa started singing gospel music in 2019.
He released his debut album in 2021 titled ‘Pfuma Yemashoko’ and his second album in 2022, which was launched via a local radio station.
Chisafa feels gospel music has not been getting significant airplay as secular music and this is making it hard for artists to penetrate the competitive industry.
“We survive on our managers pushing the music for us on radio stations but I still feel it’s not enough as sometimes gospel music is only played on a Sunday unlike secular music.
“This really affects our market as artists as well as relevance, which makes it hard for one to be a household name.
“I have released my song after two years and the song is explaining how I faced hardships but I persevered.
“I’m hoping to release the video to the song soon and I’m also working on a collabo with a big artist and I plan to surprise my fans.
“Recording has not been easy as I do not have enough morden equipment which affects the quality of the sound and visual elements of my work.
“It would be great if I could get assistance from well wishers so that I perfect my work and deliver high quality music, which matches the market’s demands,” said Chisafa.
